Cultivating an Adventure Streak
Let’s be creative. Let’s cultivate a Holy Spirit adventure streak. In fact, let’s see the prophetic gifting that has flourished over the past several years spread into new spheres of influence.
When you have an adventure it causes you to break a membrane of the familiar into a place that you were previously uncomfortable. You passed through constraints constructed from the past and you carve a path for your future when you embrace a new adventure. A wide vista of new expressions of life is on the other side of the narrow confinement.
Now that sounds like something I signed up for! In fact, one time I was given a vivid dream where the Holy Spirit brought me to a door. I was uncertain whether to go through the door or not cause it felt like there were things on the other side that I was uncomfortable with. But in the dream, I simply touched the door and it opened right up – like stepping onto an automatic door opener in front of a department store.
Interestingly enough, when I gazed through the doorway, I saw a hallway – like in a school of hospital – that was lined with many other doors. I leaned in and the voice of the Holy Spirit spoke in my inner being and said, “I am leading you to a door that will lead to other doors.” As I passed from my familiar posture of looking on the outside of life with the haze of the fear of the unknown upon me, versus boldly stepping into it, I remember an excitement burst in the inside of me. I knew that behind each one of these other new doors was a fresh, creative adventure. I woke from the dream knowing that if I tackled the fear of going through the first doorway, it would lead me into a life style of adventures that I could not even imagine.
You see, for me, the first door I had to press past was fear. Fear of man, rejection, and the unknown. But on the other side of the familiar was Adventures into the Prophetic. When I awoke out of that dream, I knew that if I would press past my own personal fears, that I would also open a door in the Spirit for others to follow.
That is what my life has been about. Yes, that is it! Push past your fears so you too can live an adventurous life.
The Adventure Company
So you see, I have been dreaming about this particular book for a long time. I want to see an “Adventure Company Arise!” These are a group of radical believers who venture forth into the dark places of life to take new territory for the King of Kings. This Adventure Company is full of curiosity and will risk their reputation so that Jesus’ light will shine.
To help jumpstart us, I have amassed some of the voices my prophetic friends to inspire you with testimonies and to ground you in the Word of God. First I will bring some of my vintage teaching to help us push through the first door on the Power and the Perils of the Prophetic. Then we will turn to one my best friends and one the planet craziest believers in Mickey Robinson. He is going to impart Spiritual Bravery to us and give us the foundation of how to properly receive prophetic ministry.
Then we start down our hallway and start looking behind some of the other relevant doors in our days. Patricia King, founder of Extreme Prophetic, will open to door to The Prophetic and Justice. Is that ever a Word from the Lord! Jeff Jansen, leader of Global Fire Ministries, will take us into a room filled with the revelatory and glory realms of God. Then we will go through a doorway into a room that my wife dwelled in – the convergence of the prophetic and intercession. I am honored to bring these timeless lessons to you.
Then we will continue down the hallway and peer behind some other doors into rooms that explain some of the purposes of the prophetic in our day. Ryan Wyatt, another next generation rising leader of Abiding Glory Ministries, will paint a picture of the power of the prophetic to bring heaven to earth. As fathers of the prophetic movement, Mickey and I close things out with a glint in our eyes into the future of where we are headed. Yes, there is power to outwit the enemy and there is a great harvest coming!
